I have on occasion successfully used my trusty old photographic heavy duty tripod to improve my standing shots. That's the good news. the bad news is that it weighs nearly 4Kg., is awkward to set up, in spite of having quick release and adjustable legs, and is not something to be used anywhere other than at the range.
For this reason I decided to take the risk and buy a Primos Trigger Stick. I have not been disappointed. It would be unreasonable expect it to be as solid as the camera tripod due to its lighter and more slender construction and this is certainly true. Setting up is very easy and quick however, and on testing it out a few days after purchase I found it remarkably effective. I, and a few of my friends, used it comparing unsupported standing and rested shots. We all achieved much tighter groups using different rifles with the average group size being reduced from 55mm dia to sub 18mm at 25m. (outward scoring) - (we are all over 65 and I am 76). I also purchased the Two Point Gun Rest that is companion to the Trigger Stick but found that there was no real improvement over the standard Y yoke supplied. The result of the testing was that one of our group has subsequently bought one for himself. I have noted that there have been occasional complaints about vulnerability to physical damage and water but my comment is, for goodness sake, treat it as you would your rifle! VERY PLEASED WITH THE PURCHASE.
Primos Trigger Stick Gen 3 Tall Tripod
New to the air rifle / rabbiting scene , all I can say is what a fantastic piece of kit , so versatile and helps me out no end .
These sticks are excellent and so easy to deploy, finding comfortable shooting position in seconds .This is my second stick previous one was the Gen 2 ,which developed issues with legs seizures but took a gamble on the Gen 3 .Hope my gamble pays off as when they work they are excellent ,and will keep this new one in the house away from damp areas as explained by shop before purchasing.
The are better than I thought
