The hollow-point profile promotes controlled expansion on impact, making these slugs equally suited to pest control and longer-range field use. The Slug HP's aerodynamic form produces a favourable ballistic coefficient and flat trajectory well beyond 50 metres, with strong energy retention at range. A minimum muzzle energy of 25 Joules is recommended, though 40–60 Joules gives the best results. Barrels with a shorter twist rate designed for slugs will deliver the tightest groups.
