This Decoy metal trophy plate is the fixing that holds a red deer skull neatly to a wooden shield, giving you a clean, secure mount for the trophy wall, gun room or hallway. The bracket is shaped to sit inside the brain cavity: the longer arm slides down into the section of the skull that runs towards the nose, while the shorter rear arm rests against the shield. Once you have the skull sitting at the angle you want, you mark the threaded hole, drill through the shield and tighten the bolt from behind to lock everything in place. It is a tidy alternative to fiddly screws and keeps the head sitting square and steady. On very short nose cuts where the bracket cannot seat properly, the brain cavity can instead be packed with a two-part epoxy body filler, which sets hard in around fifteen minutes and takes a wood screw through a small pilot hole. A simple, low-cost way for stalkers to present a red deer trophy properly without sending it away to be set up.
