Country & Shooting Ties

Silk country ties and field chokers. Pheasant, woodcock and roebuck motifs from Bisley, a green pheasant tie from Jack Pyke, and towelling chokers for the hill.

      What goes with what

      • A tie is driven-day kit. On a formal shoot a tie under a tattersall shirt and tweed is still the expectation, and a game motif is the safe choice — pheasant for a pheasant day, woodcock or roe if you prefer something less obvious.
      • Solid grounds are the more versatile buy. A repeated bird on a solid navy or green ground goes with any tweed. A loud ground fights the jacket.
      • A towelling choker is not a tie. It is a neck scarf for walked-up days, wildfowling and stalking — it soaks sweat, keeps the collar off your neck and can be pulled up over the face. Nobody wears one to a shoot lunch.
      • Keep one clean in the truck. The tie you wore last week has pheasant blood on it.
