Grooming kit for working dogs rather than show dogs. The bulk of it is Animology: Fox Poo shampoo for the obvious, Flea & Tick, Top Dog conditioner, Knot Sure for a spaniel that has been through brambles, and Mucky Pup for puppies.
The two that earn their keep on a shoot day are the no-rinse products — Dirty Dawg shampoo spray and Stink Bomb deodorising spray. A dog that has rolled in something at eleven o'clock still has to travel home in the back of a vehicle, and neither you nor the dog wants a hose-down in a car park in February. Puppy Fresh does the same job in a milder formulation. Clean Sheets wipes and a Blaser dog blanket cover the rest of the tailgate problem.
One practical warning on tick treatment: a shampoo is not a substitute for checking a dog over by hand after working in bracken or long grass, and it is not a tick preventative. Go through the ears, armpits and groin with your fingers, and keep a proper tick hook in the vehicle.
