Deerhunter's Deer-Tex membrane runs through the Survivor rain jacket, trousers and poncho and the PRO Gamekeeper jacket, smock and boot trousers. SwedTeam covers the Scandinavian end with the Ultra Pro M, the Titan Pro M and the Crest Light Classic. Hoggs of Fife's Struther waterproof smock is the Scottish keeper's staple. Seeland's Taiga trousers, ShooterKing's Huntflex, Jack Pyke's Weardale and Game Technical Apparel's stalking smock, tweed breeks and ladies' Elise trouser fill in around them.
Two decisions matter more than the badge on the chest. Jacket or smock: a smock has no full-length zip, so it is warmer, quieter and better sealed across the chest, but you cannot vent it in a hurry or get it off over a rifle sling. How much you walk: a fully taped membrane will keep rain out indefinitely and still leave you wet from the inside if you climb in it, so for hill days look for pit zips and full-length leg zips rather than the highest hydrostatic head figure on the label.
Waxed cotton is not in here. It sheds rain well and beats a membrane for quietness and for being repairable in the field, but it is not waterproof in the technical sense, so it sits with the general hunting jackets.
