Brattonsound Gun Cabinets & Safes

    Filter

Brattonsound are UK-made and are what most Firearms Enquiry Officers are used to seeing. The range is straightforward once you understand what the suffixes mean.

Extra deep (RL, RD, PD). Depth is for scopes. A standard-depth cabinet will take shotguns all day and then refuse a rifle with a 56mm objective and high mounts. If you own scoped rifles, or expect to, buy deep the first time — replacing a cabinet means re-drilling a wall.

Extra tall (MT). Height is for barrel length. Long shotgun barrels and moderated rifles need it.

Locking top boxes. The RL and RD cabinets include a separate lockable top compartment. Ammunition, bolts and moderators can be stored apart from the guns, which is what most forces prefer and what several conditions require.

Capacity is optimistic everywhere, not just here. A cabinet rated 6/7 gun means six or seven slim guns, tightly packed, with nothing on them. Scopes, slings and moderators eat the space fast. Count the guns you own, then buy the next size up.

Fitting. Your FEO will want the cabinet bolted to a solid wall — masonry, not plasterboard — with the fixings concealed inside. The Brattonsound fixing kit covers the screws. Site it out of sight of a window and away from the obvious first place a thief would look. Talk to your force before you buy if you are unsure what they will accept; requirements vary between constabularies and it is a cheap conversation.
