Champion make traditional country clothing — Tattersall shirts, quilted jackets, fleece-lined gilets. It is the tweedy end of the wardrobe rather than technical shooting kit, and it is priced accordingly.
Shirts
The Tattershall long and short sleeve and the short-sleeve Doncaster are the plain cotton shirts. The Kinross and Milton II are fleece-lined shirts, and the Kinross Quilted Fleece shirt is the heaviest of them — that style sits somewhere between a shirt and a light jacket and is genuinely useful on a cold, dry morning when a proper coat is too much.
Outer layers
The Arundel fleece-lined gilet, the Glen padded fleece jacket, the Padstow diamond quilted jacket and the Highgrove riding coat.
What it is not
None of this is a waterproof shell. Quilting and a fleece lining will keep you warm and shrug off a shower, but a quilted jacket in sustained rain wets out and then holds the water. If you need a membrane — driven days, stalking, anything where you are out for hours regardless — buy a proper waterproof and wear the quilt underneath or leave it at home.
