ThermTec are a Chinese thermal manufacturer, and BushWear currently hold one line from them: the Ares 360 dual-FOV thermal riflescope.
What dual field of view means
A dual-FOV unit switches between two genuine optical fields of view on the objective rather than cropping the sensor. That matters in practice because digital zoom costs you resolution - you get a bigger picture of less information. With two optical settings you scan on the wide field, then switch to the narrow one to identify and take the shot, and the image quality holds up at the higher magnification.
Buying thermal
Detection range headlines are measured against a large target in ideal conditions and tell you very little about whether you can identify a fox at 150 yards in drizzle. Sensor resolution, pixel pitch and the quality of the display are what you actually look through. If you get the chance, look through a unit before committing rather than buying on a specification sheet.
