The Xtreme Edge holds two rods in a fixed-angle guide that hones both sides of a blade at once under calibrated spring tension, and rod sets are graded by grit so you can match the stage of sharpening to the edge in front of you. This 600 grit set is the medium stage, sitting between the 325 grit coarse rods used to reprofile a badly worn edge and the 1000 grit fine rods used for the final polish. Each rod carries a diamond grinding face on one side for cutting steel, and a honing steel face on the other for a quick edge realignment between full sharpens.
