Buying from clearance sensibly. Try boots on late in the day with the sock you actually shoot in, over the insole you intend to use - a fitted aftermarket footbed changes the volume of the boot by more than half a size. Neoprene wellingtons size on calf width as much as length. If you are replacing a pair you got on with, buy the same last rather than the same nominal size.
