The Hornady .458 300gr HP is a component bullet for handloading .45-calibre rifle cartridges such as the .458 Winchester Magnum and .458 Lott. Designed for dangerous-game and heavy-rifle hunting, the exposed lead hollow-point tip initiates controlled expansion on impact while the tapered jacket — precisely controlled in thickness — ensures reliable performance across a wide range of velocities. Inner grooves strategically weaken the upper jacket section, guaranteeing consistent, controlled expansion even at long range. At the core of the design is Hornady's InterLock® ring: a raised band inside the jacket that embeds into the lead core, keeping core and jacket locked together throughout expansion to retain mass and energy. This one-piece core design avoids the separation problems of divided cores, delivering deep penetration and large, consistent wound channels for clean, effective kills. The secant ogive profile — one of Hornady's key ballistic innovations — reduces drag, improves stability and produces flatter trajectories from big-bore lever, bolt, and double rifles. Sold as component bullets for reloading; quantity per pack as listed.
