The Hornady Seating Stem for 338 calibre ELD-X 230 grain bullets is a precision-machined replacement component for Hornady Custom Grade seating dies. The 338 Cal ELD-X 230 grain is a long, high-BC bullet used in cartridges such as the .338 Lapua Magnum and .338 Winchester Magnum — both favoured for long-range stalking and target work where retained energy at distance is important. This seating stem is machined to match the ogive of the 230gr ELD-X specifically, so the die drives each bullet straight into the case and seats it to a repeatable depth without pressing on or deforming the polymer tip insert. Uniform seating depth is especially significant with heavier, longer bullets, where any deviation in cartridge overall length has a proportionally greater effect on neck tension and chamber pressure. Compatible exclusively with Hornady Custom Grade seating dies and not with any other manufacturer's tooling. A sound spare to have on the bench for any serious handloader working with .338 calibre ELD-X loads.
