The Hornady Cam-Lock Case Trimmer Pilot #1 is the .224-calibre guide pilot for use with the Hornady Cam-Lock Case Trimmer. The pilot locates inside the case neck, centring the case mouth squarely against the trimmer cutter so each case is trimmed to a consistent, uniform length. Hornady trimmer pilots are fully interchangeable within the Cam-Lock Trimmer system, making it straightforward to switch between calibres as your reloading requirements change. Pilot #1 covers the .224 bore diameter and is appropriate for cartridges such as .222 Remington, .223 Remington, and .22-250 Remington where the bullet seats in a .224-bore neck. Correct case length is a fundamental step in handloading — over-long brass can cause excessive chamber pressure and feeding problems, while consistent trimming ensures reliable crimp and uniform powder burn. The Hornady pilot is a simple, low-cost replacement or addition that keeps your trimmer set ready for the full range of centrefire calibres in your loading room.
