The Hornady Cam-Lock Case Trimmer Pilot #18 is sized .429, placing it firmly in the .44-calibre class — suitable for cartridges such as the .44 Magnum, .44 Special and .44 Remington Magnum. It is a direct replacement or additional pilot for the Hornady Cam-Lock Case Trimmer, fitting the trimmer's standard pilot socket without modification. The pilot centres the case mouth on the trimmer's cutter head, ensuring each case is trimmed square and to a consistent length — a critical step in case preparation that directly affects neck tension, primer seating and overall loaded-round accuracy. Hornady pilots are interchangeable across the Cam-Lock Trimmer range, so reloaders working with multiple calibres can swap pilots quickly without tools. This is a single pilot; the Cam-Lock Trimmer is sold separately. Hornady recommends using only genuine Hornady pilots and shell holders with the Cam-Lock Trimmer to ensure correct fit and safe operation.
