This is the genuine 3M Peltor Hygiene Kit (HY52), a replacement pad set for the Peltor Bull's Eye II, Optime II and H31 ear defenders - it is not a set of earmuffs itself, but the spare cushions and foam inserts that keep your existing pair working properly. The kit contains one full replacement set: two sealing rings (ear cushions) and two foam inserts, which press-fit onto the earmuff cups in a few easy steps with no tools required. Over time the foam and sealing rings on any earmuff compress, harden or split, which lets sound leak in around the edge of the cup and reduces the level of hearing protection you actually get on the range or in the field. Fitting a fresh kit restores the acoustic seal and brings back the comfort of the original pads, and it is also the sensible way to keep shared or heavily used hearing protection hygienic. 3M recommend replacing the ear cushions and foam inserts roughly every six to twelve months, or sooner if they show signs of damage, so a spare kit is worth keeping in the kit bag rather than waiting until the old pads fail.
