The Frankford Arsenal Cartridge Overall Length Gauge is a simple, effective tool for reloaders who need an accurate cartridge overall length (COAL) reading without buying a dedicated comparator. The kit consists of two clamps that fit onto any cleaning rod up to 1/4″ in diameter. Fit the appropriate tip to your cleaning rod and insert it to the bolt face, then secure the first clamp in place. Remove the bolt, drop a bullet (projectile only) into the chamber and hold it against the rifling with a pencil, then bring the cleaning rod tip up to the bullet tip and secure the second clamp. Measure the distance between the two clamps with a set of callipers to find your rifle's true seating depth and optimum bullet OAL, or use the gauge as a quick reference check during your reloading sequence. It works across rifle chamberings, making it a handy addition to any stalker or target shooter's reloading bench who wants seating depths dialled in for best accuracy.
