As the sales of Express cartridges increased so did the demand for new products. In 1995 it was decided to introduce a range of .410 36 gauge cartridges. Again the development team at Express sprung into action armed with the requisites of the shooters they developed a range of .410 cartridges to satisfy the criteria of the shooters. The range currently consists of three cartridges firstly a 2 inch cartridge suitable for the olde English classic guns a 2 inch for the majority of guns and last but not least a powerful 3 inch magnum shell for those shooters who demanded more power.All .410 Cartridges have tempered shot with other hardening alloys. This shot is made to our exacting requirements.The powders used for .410 Cartridges are Vectan powders made in France by the Nobel Sport Group to the very highest standards of consistency and cleanliness. The powders are double base flake powders which will burn at low pressures ensuring the very uniform patterns demanded by knowledgeable shooters. The Plastic Wad is designed to for maximum efficiency and to open the pattern at the muzzle for maximum effect.

The shot weights extend from 32gm 1 1/8 oz. to 50mm 42 gram 1 1/2 oz. cartridges these have been upgraded every year with the latest in all aspects from the primer to the shot and wad.All these cartridges are loaded with Vectan Powders made in Brittany France. The shot is made to our specifications at a specialist lead shot manufacturing facility. Quality control includes checking the Antimony and other hardener contents as well as sphericity and surface imperfections thus ensuring very uniform patterns for a clean kill. The plastic wad ensures a very efficient burn and protects the shot from deformation. The Plastic Wad is designed to protect the shot and open at the muzzle to prevent the wad from scattering the shot when the shot leaves the muzzle. Single base progressive powders ensure very low recoil and low pressures at very high velocities. These powders enable us to make Supreme Game cartridges in true 65 mm cases 2 1/2in. for shooting in Best English Guns with 65 mm 2 1/2in. chambers. The range is available in shot weights from 28 to 34 grams. The lead shot is made to our specifications at a specialist lead shot manufacturing facility. Quality control includes checking the Antimony and other hardener contents as well as sphericity and surface imperfections. The Special Twenty range of Lyalvale Express 20ga. cartridges were introduced to compliment the already successful 12ga. cartridges. The cartridges in this range have been specifically designed to give the 20 gauge shooter optimum performance and quality irrespective of which discipline is chosen. The game loads available in Special 20 gauge 65mm 2 1/2 from Express have been developed to accommodate the most discerning of shooters whether the fibre wad is preferable to the plastic wad or the light load is required for small quarry Express have the answer. The painstakingly developed formulae of hard hitting low recoil cartridges throughout the Express range remains inherent in the game loads yet as with all Express game cartridges the traditional English game gun remains in full consideration as all the 21 and 25gm products are loaded into true 2 1/2 65mm cases. To achieve such a reputation we only use the finest components. The case is a distinctive yellow to prevent accidental mixing with other large gauges. The powder used is the very well respected Vectan propellant made in France by the Nobel Sport Group. Vectan powder achieves consistent ballistics while being clean burning and efficient. As with all Express cartridges the lead is the finest quality all told this combination of components gives rise to the ultimate in 20 gauge performance. In line with our policy of meeting the requirements of our customers we have developed a new Fibre wad high game load in 20 gauge. The Special Twenty 30gm and 32gm are specially formulated to give the finest patterns at extreme ranges to bring down the hardest of quarry.

The powder is a single base fine flake powder which will burn at low pressures required by Steel Shot cartridges. The Plastic Wad is designed specifically for Steel Shot with very thick walls to protect the barrels. The petals of the wad are so designed as to open approximately three metres from the muzzle allowing the pattern to form and increasing the protection factor to the barrels of the gun The Steel used in the manufacture of our cartridges has been specifically formulated to conform with the requirements for softness laid down in the C.I.P regulations. The Express Max Game range of hunting cartridges were introduced in 1996 responding to the continual requests for Lyalvale to produce heavier loaded cartridges with reduced recoil. The range of 3 inch 76mm cartridges manufactured for use in all guns CIP proofed for magnum chambers not less than 76mm. Available in all shot sizes from BB to 4. The crimp closure ensures that all patterns remain consistent even at the extreme ranges this cartridge was developed for.The 50gm cartridge was developed for Lyalvale shooters who had feed problems with some brands of Automatic shotgun but did not want to stop using the Express product. As with all Express products the use of a unique formulation of lead shot ensures optimum performance and consistent patterns at the longest of ranges. The cartridge uses clean burning Vectan propellant from the Nobel Sport Group in Brittany France. All the Vectan powders used are single base to achieve long range kills with reduced recoil. As with all Vectan propellants they have been specially formulated for heavy loads. This formulation allows higher velocities for clean consistent long range kills without the usual increase in recoil normally associated with Magnum cartridges.

The High Velocity Range of Lyalvale Express Biodegradable Fibre Cartridges has been designed to approximate the ballistics of Express Plastic Wadded High Velocity Cartridges. This allows sportsmen that are required to shoot only biodegradable cartridges to enjoy their sport without any loss of performance. To this end we use only the best available components. The case is red and made in the EEC. The powder is made in France by the Nobel Sport Group to the very highest standards of consistency and cleanliness. The powder is a single base fine flake powder which will burn at low pressures required by Fine English Guns. In fact the powder utilised in these cartridges is one of the slowest burning of the Vectan range to ensure the lowest pressures consistent with a clean burn. We use Selected Shot for our Competition Range. This ensures optimum patterns and performance for each type of shooting. All our shot is made in the EEC and of the highest quality. The Card Obturator in our High Velocity cartridges is of 4 mm thickness rather than the usual 2.5 or 3. This ensures good obturation which enhances the efficiency of the powder. The Fibre wad used is waxed as is the Card Obturator to protect the barrels of fine English shotguns.
