Waterproof Shooting Trousers

Waterproof trousers for stalking, rough shooting, beating and keepering — the layer that decides whether a long wet day is bearable. This is the trouser end of our waterproof clothing range, from full membrane hunting trousers to packable overtrousers.

      Choosing waterproof hunting trousers

      • Quiet or tough. For stalking, a soft, brushed face fabric matters: a crisp shell rustles against heather and carries on a still morning. For beating and walking up through bracken, gorse and bramble, abrasion resistance matters more than silence. Our field-tested guide to waterproof trousers that don't rip covers that end of the range.
      • Full trousers or overtrousers. Membrane hunting trousers are worn all day. Overtrousers such as the Seeland Buckthorn, Swazi Torrent Overpants and Line 7 Storm Armour10 bib go over breeks or stretch trousers when the weather turns, and roll into a pack when it doesn't.
      • Boot trousers. Cuts such as the Deerhunter Pro Gamekeeper Boot Trousers and Lady Ann Extreme Boot Trousers are made to be worn over boots. For deep heather and wet bracken, add gaiters.
      • Knees and seat. If you kneel to shoot or sit on wet ground, check the reinforcement at the knee and seat — that is where a pair fails first.
      • Sizing. Most of these brands size European. Check the measurements on each product page, and try them over the layers you will actually wear underneath.

Women's cuts are gathered in women's waterproof hunting trousers, and Gore-Tex models in GORE-TEX waterproof trousers. For drier days, see hunting and shooting trousers without a membrane. Comparing the big four? Read best hunting trousers UK: Härkila vs Seeland vs Deerhunter vs SwedTeam.
