Bisley's brass choke gauge for 20 gauge shotguns is a simple, pocket-sized tool for checking the amount of choke in a fixed-choke barrel. Push the tapered brass gauge into the muzzle until a segment sits flush with the bore, then read off the choke size from the marked scale, which covers Improved Cylinder, Quarter, Half, Three-Quarter and Full choke. It's especially useful when buying a secondhand gun, since the choke stamp on the barrel doesn't always match what's actually been bored, so a quick check with the gauge confirms what you're really getting before you commit to cartridges or a day in the field. Made from solid brass and finished with a keyring loop, it's built to live in a cartridge bag or jacket pocket without fuss. Bear in mind it's designed for standard English-choked barrels and isn't suited to back-bored or over-bored bores, including some modern back-bored designs. A handy, low-cost check for anyone buying, selling or simply getting to know a 20-bore gun.
