The H&N Slug HP is a hollow-point airgun slug designed for FAC-rated air rifles shooting at longer ranges than conventional diabolo pellets can comfortably reach. Built for .25 calibre (6.35mm) barrels, this .249 / 6.34mm diameter variant weighs 28 grains and delivers a ballistic coefficient of 0.096, producing the flat trajectory and strong downrange energy retention that slug-profile projectiles are known for. A minimum muzzle energy of 29.5 ft.lbs is required, with the rifle barrel ideally having a short twist rate suited to slug ammunition. H&N recommends a muzzle energy of 60–90 joules for best results. Each slug is coated with a special lubricant to reduce barrel friction, then individually inspected and hand-packed into H&N's standard screw-top tin with foam transport pads. At 100m the slug remains an effective hunting round for medium quarry including fox, hare and pheasant. Supplied in a tin of 120.
