The nylon bristles are unaffected by most modern solvents, including the copper and ammonia-based products that quickly wear out a bronze brush, so each brush lasts far longer in regular use. They are also gentle on the bore, making them a sensible choice when you want to loosen fouling without the aggressive scrubbing action of bronze or steel. The core is a single piece of wire, looped at the tip and held in a crimped coupler so there are no sharp ends to mark the rifling. Each .17 calibre brush uses a 5-40 male thread that fits most popular brands of cleaning rod, so they drop straight into a kit you already own.
