The Barnes LRX (Long-Range X) is an all-copper, lead-free bullet designed for hunters who want match-grade accuracy at extended range combined with serious terminal performance. This .257 calibre (25 Cal) version weighs 101 grains and uses a long, sleek boat-tail profile that gives it a high ballistic coefficient for a flatter trajectory and reduced wind drift downrange. On impact, the LRX's razor-sharp copper petals open instantly to roughly double the bullet's original diameter, carving a wide wound channel while the solid copper shank drives on for deep penetration, even on dense, thick-skinned game. Because there's no lead core to separate from a jacket, weight retention is exceptionally high compared with conventional jacketed bullets, and Barnes rates a minimum impact velocity of around 1900fps for reliable expansion. Supplied as a box of 50 component bullets (SKU 30479) for precision handloading — this is a projectile only, not loaded ammunition, and is intended for reloaders working up their own .257 calibre loads such as .257 Weatherby Magnum.
