This Parker-Hale TUBED one-piece rifle rod is built for cleaning .22 to .243 calibre rifle barrels, identified by its grey rod and red handle. The steel core is hardened and tempered for stiffness along its 37-inch length, protected by a tough acetate covering that stops the rod marking or abrading the bore as it passes down the barrel. A ball-bearing swivel handle lets the rod turn freely, so whatever brush, jag or patch is fitted follows the rifling rather than twisting against the lands and grooves, giving a cleaner, more even pass. Brass fittings resist wear at the working end. This version carries a male thread, matching Parker-Hale's own range of UK-pattern brushes, mops and jags, rather than the female-threaded American fittings sold separately. At 37 inches overall, including the handle, it suits most sporting rifle barrel lengths without needing an extension rod.
