The Hornady SST® (Super Shock Tip) is a polymer-tipped, boat-tail hunting bullet designed for rapid, reliable expansion across a broad range of impact velocities — making it a strong choice for deer stalking and similar woodland quarry at typical .30 calibre ranges. This listing covers the 150-grain .308" variant as used in 300 Savage and other .30 calibre cartridges. On impact, the hard polymer tip is driven into the lead core like a wedge, initiating fast yet controlled expansion that opens a large wound channel. The secant ogive profile and boat-tail base reduce drag and improve stability in flight. A mid-body cannelure locks the core and jacket during the crimping process, while the InterLock® ring — a Hornady exclusive — mechanically keeps the core and jacket bonded through expansion, supporting weight retention and the penetration needed for clean kills. These are component bullets sold for handloading into .30 calibre cases; they are not loaded ammunition.
