The Hornady ELD-X® (Extremely Low Drag – eXpanding) 212 grain .308" component bullet is a handloading projectile engineered for all-range hunting performance in 30-calibre cartridges including .308 Winchester, .30-06 Springfield and the 300 magnum family. It is a component projectile for reloaders — not loaded ammunition — and does not require a firearms certificate to purchase in the UK. At 212 grains this is one of the heavier ELD-X offerings in .308", suited to cartridges with the case capacity to drive it at adequate velocity for stalking at extended ranges. The Heat Shield® tip is immune to aerodynamic heating throughout its flight path, retaining its precise shape to maintain the highest-in-class ballistic coefficient as verified by Doppler radar. The streamlined secant ogive, optimum boattail, and highly concentric AMP® bullet jackets combine for match-accurate consistency from the handloading bench. The InterLock® ring keeps core and jacket together under impact: 50–60% weight retention at conventional ranges, rising to 85–90% at extended range where the Heat Shield® tip drives rearward to initiate expansion.
