The Hornady CX (Copper alloy eXpanding) is a one-piece monolithic hunting bullet built for handloaders who need outstanding terminal performance and deep penetration on large, heavy game. At .338 calibre, .338" diameter and 225 grains, this is a substantial projectile for use in .338 Winchester Magnum, .338 Lapua and similar cartridges. The single copper-alloy body retains approximately 95% of its weight on impact, ensuring deep, straight penetration even on heavy bone. A Heat Shield tip — made from heat-resistant polymer — maintains its shape throughout the bullet's flight path, preserving a consistently high ballistic coefficient from muzzle to target. Optimum groove geometry along the bearing surface reduces fouling and bearing surface friction, improving accuracy. Being lead-free, the CX is fully compatible with areas that mandate non-traditional bullets. These are component projectiles sold for handloading — no case, primer or propellant is included. No firearms certificate is required to purchase component bullet heads in the UK.
