- Designed for use in conjunction with DGS® solids as a matched dangerous game pair
The Hornady DGX® Bonded (Dangerous Game™ eXpanding) is a purpose-built expanding bullet for handloaders targeting the largest and most dangerous game with cartridges such as .375 H&H Magnum. At .375" diameter and 300 grains, this is a heavy, flat-nosed projectile designed to deliver controlled expansion and deep, straight penetration through hide, muscle and bone. The 0.098" copper-clad steel jacket is bonded to the lead core — a critical feature that prevents jacket-core separation under the extreme stresses of high-energy impact on tough materials. On impact, serrated sections around the flat nose initiate uniform expansion to 1.5 to 2 times the original bullet diameter, while straight-line penetration minimises the risk of deflection. The thicker-than-standard jacket controls the rate of expansion, ensuring the bullet stays together and continues driving deep even after encountering heavy bone. DGX® Bonded bullets are built to exactly the same profile as the companion DGS® (Dangerous Game™ Solid), so both can be zeroed and used in the same rifle with minimal shift in point of impact — an important practical consideration on dangerous game hunts where the choice of expanding versus solid may depend on follow-up shot requirements.
