The Hornady DGS (Dangerous Game Solid) in .416-inch diameter at 400 grains is a component bullet for handloaders loading dangerous-game cartridges such as .416 Rigby, .416 Remington Magnum or .416 Ruger. Its wide, flat nose resists deformation and deflection on impact, driving straight through thick hide, dense muscle and heavy bone to deliver the deep, straight-line penetration that dangerous-game shooting demands. A very hard, high-antimony lead core combined with a heavy copper-clad steel jacket maintains full structural integrity even under the extreme impact stresses of a dangerous-game encounter, preserving overall weight retention throughout. The DGS is built to the same external profile as the matching .416 DGX Bonded expanding bullet, enabling both to be used through the same rifle with minimal shift in point of impact — a critical feature when using a solid as a follow-up round. These are component bullets for handloading; they are not loaded ammunition. For dangerous and large game only — not appropriate for UK deer stalking.
