- DGS — Hornady's Dangerous Game Solid non-expanding bullet for maximum penetration on dangerous game
- Heavy copper-clad steel jacket over a hard high-antimony lead core resists deformation through bone
- Wide flat nose maximises energy transfer and reduces the risk of deflection for straight-line penetration
- Identical external profile to the Hornady DGX Bonded — zero shift when switching between bullet types
- The ideal follow-up shot bullet when an expanding round has been used for the first shot
- Calibre .423 inch, 400 grains — component bullets for handloading
The Hornady DGS (Dangerous Game Solid) is a non-expanding component bullet built for the deepest possible penetration on the heaviest and most dangerous quarry. A very hard, high-antimony lead core sits inside a heavy copper-clad steel jacket that resists deformation when driving through even the toughest hide and bone. The wide, flat nose maximises energy transfer on impact while actively reducing the chance of deflection, keeping the bullet on a straight path through muscle and skeletal material. The DGS is machined and formed to the exact same external profile as Hornady's paired DGX Bonded expanding bullet, which means handloaders can shoot both types through the same firearm and expect the same point of aim and point of impact — an invaluable asset when a follow-up shot on dangerous game must be placed without hesitation. Diameter .423 inch, 400 grains. Sold as component bullets for handloaders.
