Hornady's XTP Mag bullets for the 500 S&W Magnum are engineered specifically to handle the extreme velocities and chamber pressures generated by the most powerful production revolvers. The .500 diameter, 350-grain projectile is built on the proven eXtreme Terminal Performance platform but reinforced throughout for magnum performance. Precise serrations divide the jacket into symmetrical sections, initiating controlled expansion reliably even at low velocities, while the drawn gilding metal jacket varies in thickness along its length to govern expansion more precisely than any plated alternative. A swaged lead core ensures uniform density for consistent, balanced expansion and in-flight stability. The gilding metal jacket fully encloses the hollow point nose — protecting the cavity from deformation during feeding in semi-automatics and ensuring it functions as designed on impact. For revolver loads, a correctly applied cannelure enables accurate, consistent roll crimping. These are component bullets for handloaders; sold per box and require reloading equipment, brass, powder and primers.
