The Hornady Custom Grade Full-Length 2-Die Set for 22/250 Ackley Improved (.224) is built for handloaders working this popular wildcat — a fire-formed version of the 22-250 Remington with a sharper 40-degree shoulder that reduces case stretch and gives a modest velocity gain over the parent cartridge. The full-length sizing die restores fired cases to the correct improved chamber dimensions and incorporates the Hornady Elliptical Expander, which sizes case necks more smoothly and with less friction than a ball expander, locks securely via internal threading, and removes the need for a separate expander die when necking up. The Zip Spindle clamps positively against slippage and accepts both fine incremental adjustments through its light-thread system and rapid coarse movement by zipping. A precision-polished internal bore keeps cases from sticking through extended sessions. The in-line seating die aligns bullet, case neck and seating stem co-axially in a floating sleeve before the bullet enters the neck, supporting consistent depth and tight groups. Built-in roll crimping removes the need for a separate crimp die. Sure-Loc lock rings clamp the full die body without thread contact; wrench flats aid removal.
