The Hornady PTX Powder Through Expander for .430-diameter cases is a dedicated insert for the Hornady Case Activated Powder Drop on the Lock-N-Load AP progressive press. As the powder charge is dispensed, the PTX simultaneously flares the case mouth to .430 inches — combining two operations into one station and keeping the die block free for other uses. The .430-inch sizing is correct for .44 Magnum and .44 Special cases, cartridges commonly loaded by handgun reloaders. It works with lead, plated and jacketed bullets without modification. The insert threads directly into the Case Activated Powder Drop and follows the standard PTX fitment shared across the range. Freeing a station for a taper crimp die or powder cop check is a straightforward gain when running .44-calibre loads on a Hornady progressive press, and this expander is the component that makes it possible without sacrificing case mouth preparation quality.
