The Hornady PTX Powder Through Expander for .451-diameter cases is a drop-in insert for the Hornady Case Activated Powder Drop on the Lock-N-Load AP progressive press. As the powder measure cycles, the PTX simultaneously expands the case mouth to .451 inches, merging powder dispensing and case mouth belling into a single station. The .451-inch sizing makes it the correct choice for .45 ACP and other .451-diameter pistol cases. It handles lead, plated and jacketed bullets equally well. By removing the need for a standalone expander die, a station is freed on the press — typically taken by a taper crimp die or a powder cop — which simplifies the die setup for .45-calibre loads on a progressive press. The insert threads directly into the Case Activated Powder Drop and uses the same fitment as the rest of the PTX range, so swapping between calibres on the same press is a straightforward change.
