Hard Yakka Workwear

    Filter

Hard Yakka is Australian workwear, and it is stocked here as workwear rather than as field sports kit. The range runs to Toughmaxx Lite holster-pocket trousers, Raptor Active work shorts in mid and standard lengths, long-sleeve check flannel shirts and quilted flannel shackets, the 3056 lace and side-zip safety boots in men's and women's fits, and multipack worksocks and trunks.

      Where it fits

This is a trade and yard range - abrasion resistance, pockets that hold a tape and a knife, and fabric that survives a wash cycle every night. It is a reasonable choice for keepering and estate work in dry weather, and plenty of people wear the flannel shirts for exactly that. What it is not is a waterproof shell or a quiet stalking fabric: the cotton drill rustles and it wets out.

      Worth knowing

      • Holster pockets add bulk at the thigh. Useful on a site, a nuisance in a highseat or crawling into a hide. The Raptor Active shorts and plain-front trousers are the lower-profile option.
      • Australian sizing runs long in the leg. Check the inside leg rather than assuming a UK equivalent.
      • The 3056 boots are safety-rated work boots, not walking boots. They are stiff, they are heavy and they are not built for hill miles.

For shooting and stalking clothing proper see Clothing & Footwear, Outers & Midlayers and Jackets. Occupational footwear with metatarsal protection is under Metatarsal Safety Footwear.
