Laurin Metalli's Bolster 16-24-3 Brass Fillet is a knife-making fitting rather than a finished knife or tool: a solid brass bolster measuring 16mm wide by 24mm long by 3mm thick, machined with a tang slot roughly 15mm long and 1.5mm wide running through the block. Laurin Metalli is a family-run maker based in Kauhava, Finland, trading since 1918 and now in its fourth generation, producing knife blade blanks, bolsters and other fittings that are 100% made in Finland. The 'Fillet' profile is a slimmer, lower shape suited to a fillet-knife build, where a bulky bolster would get in the way of a fine, flexible blade. Fitted between the blade tang and the handle scales during a build or re-handle, a bolster seals the joint, gives a clean transition from blade to grip, and adds a little weight and balance to the front of the handle. Sold as a single component for the knife maker's own build; check the slot against your blade's tang before ordering.
