Curly birch, also known as masur or flame birch, is the traditional handle timber for the Finnish puukko and leuku, prized for its swirling, figured grain and for taking a smooth, durable finish. This Large size handle block is sized to suit the wider tangs used on Laurin Metalli's bigger blade blanks, giving a maker enough material to shape, drill and fit to the tang before finishing to their own profile. As a raw handle blank it is supplied unshaped and unfinished, ready for the buyer's own knife-making work rather than as a ready-to-use handle.
