This is a Lauri leuku blade blank from Laurin Metalli in Kauhava, Finland — a bare, unhandled blade supplied for knife-makers to finish themselves, not a ready-to-carry knife. The leuku is the large, broad-bladed Nordic knife traditionally used by Sami and Finnish hunters for heavier camp and game work, from butchering to clearing brush. This blank carries a 210mm blade that tapers from 39mm to 37mm in width and measures 3.25mm thick, forged from 80CrV2 high-carbon tool steel and factory heat-treated and sharpened, so it is ready to work with as soon as it arrives. The tang runs to around 127mm (5in), long enough for a secure pinned or bolted handle, and it is sized to take standard Lauri bolsters and fittings. Overall length is roughly 330mm and it weighs about 200g. As a carbon steel, it takes and holds a very keen edge and is easy to resharpen, but it will rust if left wet, so it needs drying and a light oiling after use. No handle, bolster or sheath is included.
