The Laurin Metalli Leuku 240mm Carbon Steel is a blade blank only, supplied with no handle and no sheath — a big Scandinavian leuku blade for makers building their own knife from scratch. Leuku is the traditional broad, heavy knife used across northern Finland and Lapland for camp chores: chopping wood, butchering and skinning game, where a longer, deeper blade earns its keep. This is one of the largest blades in Laurin Metalli's Kauhava-made range, forged from 80CrV2 high carbon tool steel, heat-treated and sharpened ready to fit. The blade runs 240mm long with a 37-39mm blade depth, on a full hidden tang around 130mm long, giving an overall blade-and-tang length of roughly 375mm before a handle goes on. The bare blade weighs around 275g, so expect a properly weight-forward finished knife once scales or a leuku-style handle are riveted on. Being carbon steel rather than stainless, it takes and holds a keen edge easily but will rust if left wet, so it needs drying and a light oil after use. A project blade for anyone building their own leuku, not a finished knife.
