The Laurin Metalli Rhombic Ground Blade is a Finnish-made knife blade blank intended for knifemakers and handle crafters who want a precision-ground starting point for a custom fixed blade. Measuring 150mm in blade length, 28mm in depth and 4mm in width, this blank is ground to a rhombic (diamond) cross-section profile that balances blade stock removal with a geometry suited to a wide variety of handle applications. The steel is 80CrV2 carbon steel, a high-carbon chromium-vanadium alloy widely used in Scandinavian blade-making for its ability to take a keen, long-lasting edge and to respond well to hand finishing. Supplied as an unfinished blank, the blade requires final profiling, tempering (if not already heat-treated), handle fitting and edge grinding by the maker. Laurin Metalli is a respected Finnish blade and cutlery component producer with a long tradition of supplying the Nordic knifemaking community.
