      U-Power are an Italian safety footwear maker. Lighter and better finished than most site boots, with the protection ratings certified rather than implied.

      What the ratings mean

      • S3 — toe protection, penetration-resistant midsole, water-resistant upper, closed heel, antistatic.
      • S3S and S7S — the newer EN ISO 20345:2022 classifications. S7S adds full waterproofing to the S3S protection set. The Kora uses a Gore-Tex membrane.
      • ESD — controlled electrical resistance, for work around sensitive electronics. Not the same thing as antistatic.
      • SRC — slip resistance tested on both ceramic with detergent and steel with glycerol.

      Fitting

      Safety toe caps do not stretch or break in. If the cap touches your toes in the shop it will still be touching them in a year. Fit them in the afternoon, in the socks you actually work in, and allow a thumb's width.
