Birchwood Casey's Brass Slotted Tip covers 30 to 50 calibre rifle bores, from 7.62mm up to 12.7mm, and works on a different principle to a push jag: the slot grips a cleaning patch securely so it can't slip loose, whether you're pushing it down the bore or pulling it back through. That two-way grip makes it useful for both jag-style pushing and pull-through cleaning, and is handy when a patch needs changing part-way through a clean without the rod coming out of the barrel. Solid brass construction protects the bore from wear and won't mark the rifling, and the tip threads onto most standard cleaning rods so it drops straight into an existing kit. It's a simple, inexpensive fitting, but a slotted tip that actually holds a patch properly — rather than letting it bunch up or drop off mid-stroke — makes cleaning a bore quicker and more thorough, particularly useful on the larger .30-cal-and-up rifles that see the heaviest fouling. Supplied as a single slotted tip in the pack.
