Nosler's Ballistic Tip Varmint is a component bullet for handloaders loading .22 calibre (0.224 inch) ammunition. It is a 60 grain spitzer boat tail with a polymer tip and an ultra-thin jacket mouth, designed for violent expansion on impact: the tip drives back and forces the thin jacket to expand and fragment. A heavy Solid Base prevents deformation during firing, and the boat tail increases the ballistic efficiency of the bullet. This 250 count box is the cannelured version, so it can be crimped. Nosler gives a ballistic coefficient of 0.270, a sectional density of 0.171 and a bullet length of 0.851 inches, with a minimum recommended velocity of 1,600 fps.
