Developed using Doppler radar testing to refine the bullet's profile for low drag, the LRX pairs a boat-tail base with a long ogive to give a high ballistic coefficient of 0.449 and consistent accuracy at extended range. A polymer tip boosts that ballistic coefficient in flight and triggers controlled expansion on impact, opening the nose into four razor-sharp copper petals that plough a wide wound channel through dense, thick-skinned game, while the shank retains the bulk of its original weight for deep, reliable penetration. Barnes' Accu-Groove design — a series of skived grooves along the bearing surface — reduces fouling and pressure, helping keep handloads consistent through repeated use.
