Barnes' TSX (Triple-Shock X) is a 100% solid copper, lead-free hunting bullet built to combine controlled expansion with maximum weight retention and deep, straight-line penetration. Machined from a solid copper bar rather than cast or jacketed over a lead core, the TSX cannot separate or fragment on impact. Its engineered hollow-point nose cavity peels back on contact into four sharp-edged copper petals, roughly doubling the bullet's original diameter while the shank stays intact, giving close to 100% weight retention and reliable pass-through performance on deer and other big game. Multiple grooves machined into the bullet's shank act as pressure-relief channels, reducing bore friction, copper fouling and chamber pressure compared with a plain-sided monolithic bullet. This flat-base (FB) version is a .277in diameter, 140-grain bullet for the .270 Winchester and other .277 calibres, supplied as a component projectile for handloaders — 50 bullets per box, not loaded ammunition.
