The Sierra MatchKing .22 Calibre (.224") 77 grain Hollow Point Boat Tail is one of the most respected match bullets available for 22 calibre precision shooting, supplied here in a bulk box of 500. Sierra holds each bullet to exacting tolerances on jacket concentricity and weight, and the thin jacket combined with a small meplat gives a high ballistic coefficient of .372, with a sectional density of .219, for a flat trajectory and strong resistance to wind drift at distance. Originally developed for Service Rifle competition in the M16A2/AR-15A2, the 77 grain design allows the bullet to be seated to an overall cartridge length that still feeds from AR15/M16-pattern magazines, making it a favourite for target and F-Class shooters running a fast twist barrel. A barrel twist rate of 1 in 8" or faster is needed to stabilise this bullet correctly. Please note this is a component bullet for handloading only, not loaded ammunition, and MatchKing bullets are built for accuracy rather than terminal expansion, so they are not recommended for most hunting use. Reloaders should always work up loads carefully and consult current published data.
