The Nosler Ballistic Tip Varmint is a precision reloading component bullet purpose-built for high-velocity varmint cartridges such as the .223 Rem, .22-250 Rem, and .220 Swift. This 40-grain, .224-inch-diameter projectile features an orange polycarbonate tip that resists in-magazine deformation and initiates explosive expansion on impact. The fully tapered jacket, thickening progressively from a thin mouth to a heavy base, controls expansion across the full velocity range — delivering violent fragmentation at close range and reliable performance at the limits of varminting distance. The solid boat tail base pairs with the streamlined tip to produce a ballistic coefficient of 0.238, aiding trajectory at longer ranges. A special lead-alloy core with a heavily jacketed base prevents in-bore deformation during firing and acts as a platform for the wide mushroom. Sectional density is 0.142. Supplied in a box of 100 bullets. These are component bullets for handloading — not loaded ammunition.
