The Napier Super VP90 is a vapour phase corrosion inhibitor (VCI) sachet designed to protect firearms from rust and corrosion inside gun cabinets, gun safes and gun slips. VP90 releases a controlled monomolecular chemical vapour that is attracted to all metal surfaces — both ferrous and non-ferrous — forming an invisible, self-healing film that acts as a barrier against moisture and other corrosive elements. Because it works through the air rather than contact, it reaches exposed metal in areas an oil can simply cannot get to. The compound contains no Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) or nitrates, leaves no oily film, has no odour, and is fully biodegradable. It will not adhere to wood, plastic or glass, and crucially will not dry out wooden gun stocks — a problem associated with heaters and desiccants in gun safes. VP90 functions at any level of atmospheric humidity and can even be used alongside desiccants if needed.
