Hornady's Superformance Varmint load pairs the .17 Hornet with a 20-grain V-MAX bullet, giving foxers and varmint shooters a flat-shooting, low-recoil round that is genuinely fun to shoot. Built on the 22 Hornet case, the .17 Hornet leaves the muzzle at 3,650 fps for a trajectory comparable to a traditional 55-grain .223 Remington, yet with the felt recoil closer to a .22 WMR. The polymer-tipped V-MAX bullet drives a high ballistic coefficient and rapid, dramatic expansion on impact, making it well suited to controlling foxes, crows and other quarry out to around 300 yards. Compared with the .17 Remington it produces less fouling, barrel wear, powder use and pressure, while keeping running costs sensible. Each round is brass-cased and factory loaded to Hornady's usual standards for consistent ignition and tight groups, supplied in a box of 25.
