The Dog & Field Original Clone Dead Bird Dummy - Snipe brings the same full-body realism as the rest of the range - a head, wings and tail over an ultra-HD photographic feather print body - built into the shape of one of the smallest and trickiest UK quarry species a dog will be asked to retrieve. Snipe are diminutive, long-billed waders typically flushed and shot while walking up wet ground and rough marsh edges, and picking one up cleanly is a genuine test even for an experienced dog, given how little bird there is to get a hold of. Training on a realistic snipe-shaped dummy first, rather than discovering the awkward pick-up on a shoot day, helps a dog learn careful mouth placement on small, fiddly game. The fabric is chosen for scent retention, so carrying the dummy in a game bag or training vest ahead of a session lets it pick up genuine game scent, adding a further layer of realism beyond sight and touch. A fitted throw toggle makes it simple to send out repeatedly by hand for controlled retrieving practice.
